Western Atlantic Algarve Self-Catering Accommodation
The western atlantic coast of the Algarve, Portugal, is the least developed region by far, so accommodation is more limited (but certainly no less appealing!). Accommodation tends to be private villas, rural houses, guest houses, rooms to rent and hostels. The western atlantic coast of the Algarve is a real surfers paradise, so this is what has led to the hostel and budget accommodation.
You can find some great hostels such as the Arrifana Youth Hostel and the Aljezur Hostel (between Monte Clerigo Beach and Arrifana Beach), as well as Hotel Vale de Telha and some small rural hotels around Odeceixe and Aljezur.
For a bit more choice in self-catering accommodation at the western end of the Algarve, you can try around Sagres, where you will find some aparthotels, hotels and "casas" (houses), all of which are still ideally located for the surf, fanastic beaches and the protected 'Parque Natural da Costa Vicentina'. Wherever you stay in this area of the Algarve, you can expect a really warm welcome and a genuinely "fixe" (cool) experience!
